short read on left vs. right views
The Second Amendment gives people in America the Right to Bear Arms. Americans often have different views about whether guns are legal, and how easy it should be to get one. Conservatives often believe that everyone has the right to bear arms (own a gun) and that people should have easier access to guns. Liberals often believe that people should have strict background checks and other security measures before getting a gun. However, people often have differing opinions separate from political parties. Mostly, both parties agree that guns should only be used for self-defense.
Left view
- Liberals often believe that before buying a gun, people should have to undergo background checks (the government checking people’s history to make sure they wouldn’t do something dangerous with a gun)
- The liberal view on guns is often known as “gun-control”
Right View
- Conservatives often believe that because the second amendment gives people the right to bear arms, that everyone should be able to own a gun without question.
- Conservatives often believe that it should be easier for people to get a gun so they can defend themselves.
- The conservative view on guns is often known as “gun-rights”
